The 4000-passenger Norwegian Breakaway of Norwegian Cruise Line has 28 different types of cabins and suite accommodations in 42 categories. Seven of the categories are in The Haven, the Norwegian Breakaway's luxurious and exclusive boutique cruise ship hotel. The other 21 categories are diverse and spread throughout 8 decks of the mega-ship. These staterooms range in size (and price) from mini-suites for spa lovers or families to standard balcony cabins to oceanview and finally to the least expensive on the ship--inside cabins.

Cruisers who haven't made a reservation for the Broadway show or go-karts by the second day of their cruise may find themselves locked out for the rest of the sailing. Like their Breakaway-class fleetmates, the Breakaway Plus-class ships are overflowing with active pursuits, entertainment, dining and cabin choices, with the newest ships offering the largest variety. Special events include Mardi Gras, Casino Night, and Suit and Tie Night, where kids participate in a photo shoot, attend the Second City comedy show and then have dinner out together. One of the most popular events is the Glow Party, where black lights turn the club into a teen-friendly rave. The club features four gaming stations, air hockey, Foosball and a two-sided D.J. Emulator -- one of four in the world -- where kids can learn to D.J.
Oceanview Cabin
The Teen and Kid Spa, for the under-18 crowd, features "fabulous fruity facials," a "father/son chill out massage," a "mother/daughter paradise massage" and styling sessions. Breakaway features traditional cruise-ship shopping, including fine jewelry, duty-free alcohol and cigarettes, various sundries, clothing and accessories, and lots of Breakaway-branded items. The library and card room are tucked away behind the atrium on Deck 6. In the card room, you'll find old standards like Yahtzee, Trivial Pursuit and other games, while the library offers a very small selection of books and e-books for borrowing. Both rooms also host the Rockettes mini-museum as a nod to Breakaway's godmothers; in the card room, you'll find photo timelines, and in the library is a display of costumes.
Rather than just one large square area, the Breakaway casino is centered on the 678 Ocean Place circular staircase and expands out in several directions. Fun fact is that the ship's name was selected through a public contest (submitted by Kimberly Powell). The ship's Inaugural Cruise (Maiden Voyage) was on April 30, 2013.

Indulge in a wide variety of dining experiences, including three new, dedicated seafood venues. Norwegian Breakaway offers magnificent amenities at sea. Like other cabins on the Norwegian Breakaway, the aft-facing cabins have a 26-inch flat screen television, lots of storage space, desk, good lighting, and a full-size closet. The bathroom includes a large sink, toilet, enclosed vanity area, and shower. Since these cabins have an aft view, the balcony is larger and has lounge chairs.

Norwegian Breakaway Bars and Lounges
A video arcade, located on Deck 16, is better suited for older kids, as most of the video games are geared for the PG crowd. Games can add up , so be careful when sending kids with their cards to freely swipe. The spa on Norwegian Breakaway, operated by Mandara, offers treatments such as massages, body wraps and facials. A barber shop for men offers shaves, grooming treatments, facials, manicures and pedicures, and, yes, haircuts.
The tiny studio cabins were designed and priced for the solo traveler. All the studios are on the inside but have a porthole window looking into the hallway. These cabins are designed for cleaning up, dressing, and sleeping. Guests staying in the studios have access to the studio lounge. Norwegian Joy, Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Encore all follow a similar design pattern and feature a massive -- and gorgeous -- Observation Lounge at the front of the ship. They have go-kart racing tracks, a top-deck laser tag arena and a popular comedy club.
Like the Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Epic, the Norwegian Breakaway has inside studio cabins that are designed for the solo traveler. In addition to the restaurants mentioned above, only Norwegian Escape has Moderno Churrascaria and the Pincho Tapas Bar, and only Norwegian Encore has Onda by Scarpetta. Norwegian Joy, Bliss and Encore all have Q (a barbecue joint) and Los Lobos.
Each ship within the class has a large water park, pool and hot tubs, mini-golf course and outdoor Waterfront area with space for outdoor dining at several venues. Most also have a large outdoor electric go-kart race track and laser tag arena, and some also have an indoor virtual reality arcade, ropes course and duckpin bowling lanes. Also in the spa is the ship's thermal suite, which carries a weekly fee and is capacity-controlled. It's a lovely, serene space with steam rooms, a dry sauna, a Vitality pool, hot tubs, waterfalls and heated tile loungers.
The ship's 3-deck Atrium is Breakaway's activity center throughout the day with morning trivia, Nintendo U Dance 4 competition, cooking demonstrations, towel animal folding, dance classes, games. Elsewhere, other activities include seminars for detoxing, art auctions, wine tastings, bingo, international crew talent show, and solo travelers' meet and greets. Entertainment options also include the NCL's FIREWORKS show (on each voyage), "Rock of Ages", "Cirque Dreams", "Illusionarium" (magicians show).
Of all NCL Breakaway cabins, 42 are located in the signature “The Haven” all-suite complex, 59 are Studios (single occupancy cabins for solo travelers) and 42 are wheelchair-accessible. The 59 Studio cabins are designed for solo travelers and have their own lounge. This hallway reflects the contemporary feel of the Studio complex.
